Nintendo DS & DS Lite Web Browser £11.98

Saw both of these in Game yesterday at £11.98 - seemed like a good price.

The DS Browser is also £11.98 on-line - here - couldn't see the DS Lite version on-line.

Cheapest elsewhere on-line for the DS Lite is around the £25 mark.

Cheers

Thanks very much for that! My DSLite got stolen earlier this year - with my browser, so am glad to get it back again. Excellent find.

Sorry to be dense, my kids have got a DS lite but I am not sure what this is or what advantage it is. We have a wireless router in our house (WEP) does this mean they could connect to the internet by plugging this gizmo in ? Also, would it actually work in other places (like airports) - and surely you have to configure it somehow to work with your wep protocol at home - I had to configure my laptop with the wep key, for example. Also, echoing, the last poster - if you have ds lite do you have to get a ds lite one or will the ds one do ? ** edited - i think it says ds only on the one linked above, but still interested, even at a dearer price **

It seems a good price for a browsing add on - even if only to check emails etc. ?

    sorry for all the questions

    Hello :hello:

Just to confirm, it absolutely DOES NOT work on both the DS and the DS Lite. There are specific browsers made for both. I picked mine up from Game (instore) yesterday for £11.98! (DS Lite version) :T

The DS/Lite Browser enables you to connect to the internet where ever there is a WiFi connection. It's a fabulous piece of kit which has a standard type cartridge that you put in the top of the DS like a regular game, and then another bit which goes in the bottom where the GBA cartridge would go.

This piece of kit means that you can also play Nintendo DS games with gamers all around the world using the Nintendo Network, so you no longer need to play against the system, but can instead challenge real players which brings a whole new level to your gaming experience! You'll know which games these are by the blue circle that says 'Nintendo Wifi Connection' on them. Yesterday, I picked up 42 All Time Classics so I can play Chess and Blackjack and the like against other players! (There goes my life...)

Here's the best site to get you up to speed:

If you already have wireless broadband at home then yes you can access the internet on your DS, much like a laptop.

Yes, you can use the DS out and about - for free!, as long as they have a compatible wifi feed. Here is some information about where you can use it:
Those named include McDonald's restaurants, Coffee Republic, Hilton and Ramada Jarvis hotels, Road Chef and Welcome Break service stations, First Great Western railway stations, over 25 student unions and city centre BT Payphones and airports, football stadiums and the British Library and Canary Wharf.
And here are a few more sites which will tell you where you can access the net using compatible WiFi Hotspots and more general information about using your DS/Lite to browse the net:

I would thoroughly recommend it, but just to reiterate, DO NOT buy the regular DS Browser from Argos for £19.99 if you have a DS Lite. Get yourself down to GAME (well call first because there were very few about when I went yesterday) and pick it up for under £12!

Sorry for the long post, but hope it helps.

    Just to clarify this:

You do not need to purchase the browser to play against people online. All Nintendo DS and DS Lites have built-in wifi. The extra bit that you put in the GBA slot is actually just extra memory ('RAM') because the browser needs more than games do.

I don't own the browser, and have personally been humiliated by 12 year old Japanese children when playing Mario Kart online. :D
