When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.
Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.
So be proud of those small steps, they really are important :T

Hi, I'd like to join in after lurking for a while. :-)
Not sure if new folks introduce themselves, but I thought I'd say hello. I'm a first time mum to an 8 month old and I work from home as a self-employed freelancer (part time hours now). My husband and I are focused on paying off debt so he can spend more time with the kiddo and less time at work. Also, we're sick of being slaves to our lenders and want our freedom back. I love reading this thread, and after making our first snowball payment toward our debt payoff goal, I'm feeling excited and want to keep the momentum going. Anyway, hi everyone! Here's my list for today:
Check bank and budget spreadsheet
All meals at home
Make a meal for the freezer in the slow cooker
Hang washing out to dry
LSD - might end up being a NSD
Work when kiddo is napping and when he goes to bed
Read this thread for encouragement0 -

Welcome Plainandsimple
Quiet on here today! It's a much needed NSD for me - June is going to be a very tight month. On a positive note I've got more extra hours between now and mid-July so I'm doing my long days again and have to do 6 hours this weekend - I'm just thinking of the money!
All meals from stores
Banking checked. Need to start surveys again as I need some new foundation and don't want to pay cash for it!
Early night tonight as I'm shattered
Take poochy for a nice sunny walk when I finish at 6pm
Try and do a bit of the ironing tonight, so the mountain won't be so huge over the weekend

Hello Frugal People,
Welcome Plainandsimple.
Bit of a rum day today but there were a few small money saving bits:
*Cleaned entire house using my 3 staples - diluted Stardrops in an old spray bottle, loo cleaner & washable cloths.
*Chucked a big jug of hot soda crystal solution down bathroom sink as it"s running slowly again. Cheaper than plumber, that's for sure.
*Defrosted bread rolls to make packed lunch for tomorrow's outing. Happy to have coffee & cake out, but not the £15+ it'd cost us for lunch.
*Mr f got the shopping in on his way home & was well under budget but we still need a few items from other shops tomorrow so we mustn't feel smug yet!
*Finished clearing big raised bed then dug bean trench & lined with kitchen scraps & old newspaper before backfilling with soil. Hope to get beans in this weekend if warm enough.
*Potted up some plants grown from free seed & picked homegrown lettuce & watercress to go with dinner.
*Changed bedlinen & loaded into washer for cheap overnight wash.
Have a nice evening all,
