Advice on Unauthroised charges to account

Hiya all iam after some advice about unauthorised chrges coming out my Halifax bank account, last weekend whilst checking my statement i discovered a charge on my account from a no name just long number similar to a mortage debit for £14.50, So i rang up Halifax and asked them about it and they said it had been debited from my account every month for about a year!!!!
The first debit about a year ago went under the name Cybernet Ventures! after that it went under this long number so not to be questioned,
I told halifax that i was and would never give my details out to any such company and they said they would investigate.
However today i recieved a letter from Halifax saying that i must have given them my details and to take it up with them!!
I never give anyone my details and certainly not to adult websites!!!!

Any advice please

Isn't the long number a phone number? Many online charges now show their phone number so that you can contact them with any queries.

I would be going back to the Halifax - this time to the fraud department.
Up to now you have asked them what it is and they have told you.

I think you will have one heck of a job to get all the payments back as you presumably have had statements showing this item sent to you.

By advising them that you did not give them your authority they will have to do something to help you to stop them taking any more payments.
It might be worth getting contact details from the site as well.

If you do a Google search on Cybernet Ventures you will find many similar complaints. The number as said above is probably their telephone number does it start with 1800 ? They are based in California.
I assume its a debit card payment?
You will probably have to call them to get it stopped.

Do you check your statements once a year??? How could you have overlooked it???
