Self Levelling.

Got a concrete floor that needs levelling but never done it before. There are a few low spots so don't think the whole lot needs doing.

Anyone got any top tips?

How large is the area?

Doing the whole lot will likely be a lot easier and not a lot more expensive, you will also end up with a much better finish.

The whole area is about 4 by 3 metres and I would estimate the main patch that need doing is about 1 by 1.8 metres.

I would use a self levelling screed over the lot of that to be honest. 2 bags of screed should be enough (depending on how low the low spots are) and you will end up with a lovely flat surface.

It depends do you want it flat and level or just flat ?

Go over with straight edge mark the high/ low spots ( bit of chalk different colour for high /low ) then decide which is quicker, cheaper, will produce the more desirable finishing height etc

Fill individual low spots if there aren’t many ?

Just cover entire area with self leveling? ( its not as self leveling as people think seen loads balls it up )

Remember the highest spot determines finish height

If you just want to fill localised low spots a feather finish type product is what you need to use. If you are going to give the whole floor a coat then the 2 part levelling products are the best. You cant get the mix wrong as its 1 unit of liquid to 1 bag of leveller. A spiked roller if also your friend for getting a good finish and removing air bubbles.
