Child friendly places in Spain?

Options
I would like to take my 5 and 3 year old to Spain. Can anyone tell me of any places in Spain/hotels that would be good for them please.
We've never been abroad before so want somewhere that we all can enjoy!
Thank you, Jo.

Spain is a very child friendly country, its also very large. Have you any idea of where you want to see, what you wish to do? Do you want the chips with everything or see some of the real Spain? Whats the budget?

We've been going to the Calypso in Salou for the last 6 years, my daughter, who is now coming up to 14 just doesn't want to go anywhere else, it may look a little rough round the edges but it is a great family hotel. Salou makes a good center, yes a bit Blackpool in the sun but I doubt a 3 and 5 year old would be too happy with the quiet, quaint and cultural stuff everyday, they are more likely to want to play in the pool or make new friends. If you want to do some sight seeing the Plana buses are frequent, Reus is nice and worth a visit and i can recommend a visit to the Gaudi center, also nice is the sea front at Cambrils, Tarragona has some Roman remains like an Amphitheatre, getting to Barcelona is also easy from Salou but I wouldn't recommend it with 2 small children during the busy summer months.

Have you thought of Menorca? It's quieter than the mainland resorts and child friendly. Cala en Bosch is a nice little town near Cuitadella in the north of the Island. The Viva Menorca is a nice hotel - has a kids club for the wee ones and regular bus service to cuitadella which is a pretty town with a play park right at the bus stop and some shops and restaurants. Can take day trips (the capital has pony rides just near the bus stop and the ponies are gentle and VERY slow - you lead them round a small area with child on back wearing riding helmet). My daughter was 5 when she went on and loved every second. There's also a horse show you can go to in the evening as a tour which as "dancing" horses - like the Lippizaner stallions but these horses are black and facinating to watch. There were lots of little kids at the show and again, our daughter loved seeing them and still talks about the trip.

Worth having a look on tripadvisor, we flew jet2holidays and couldn't fault them. Flight isn't too long and transfers fine (our daughter snoozed on the air con bus). Can book half board / full or self catering. Rooms big enough as also have fridge / kettle etc. The building is also low rise (so two stories) and a 15 minute walk into the centre of town. There's a large sandy beach there too. For a quiet family holiday, can highly recommend.

    Good luck!

Can highly recommend Puerto Pollensa in Majorca- we stayed there twice and loved it- very child friendly. We stayed in a place called the Las Velas Apartments- only around 30 apartments so nice and small so you got to know others that were staying there.

You could get a thousand recommendations!

Seek out a location within budget. Cross reference to trip advisor reviews and take it from there.

20 years ago I'd have said Hotel Aguamarina at Arenal on Menorca. Perfect for kids of that age.

We stayed just around the coast from Arenal at Son Parc and it was lovely, our Hotel was what is now called the Aparthotel Beach Club and our apartment was right at the end of the block that goes out on the peninsular, the views were stunning and the restaurant was outside and looked down into the cove and beach area, we wanted to go back the following year but it had been dropped from the Airtours brochure and we couldn't find anyone else who did it (this was before all these booking sites) We ended up going to Cala 'N' Blanes and to be honest, it was awful, because it was a fair walk away from any main resort (Cala N Forcat) what little there was locally was horrendously expensive, saving grace was that there were cheap and regular buses to Ciutadella, we did venture the other way to Cala N Forcat and wished we hadn't, it was awful and that's saying something coming from someone who goes to Salou every year.

I'd second Salou! Went there many times when I was a kid and loved every minute of it.
