Getting a new credit card

in Credit cards
Hello all, I am thinking of getting my first credit card and need some advice. The reason behind my decision is purely for improving my credit rating. I already have a TSB classic plus bank account and use the 5% contactless cashback offer on roughly £100 every month and my remaining monthly spend is usually quite low, say another ~£100.
My question is - looked around and remember reading online (might have been in one of the credit card guides here) that ideally you don't want to use more than 30% of the credit limit per month for credit rating sake. However, as mentioned above, realistic monthly spend on the card would be about £100, so chances are this will be a very low percentage of the credit card limit (looking at a realistic £1000 initial maximum, that's ~10%). Is there a potential credit rating hit if barely using the card? Since credit accounts stay on your credit file for a long time i want to get this right. Any thoughts welcome, especially if someone has inside experience and knows this for fact.

Low usage is fine. Just use it regularly (monthly if you can) and clear in full.0

Do you really only spend £200pm?
What you say in your OP is all quite correct but there is no reason if you are paying in full each month to use the card so little.0 -
Yes, i really do spend that little on shopping (significantly more on rent, but as i pay the rent straight to them using credit card is not an option here).0
