Credit card before mortgage

Evening all,

I'm looking at getting my first credit card. It's purely for cashback purposes and having just opened the Halifax Reward Account I'll be trying for the Clarity Card. Me and my partner are, however, also in the process of looking for a house. It could take a month, but it could take a year, we're not in a massive rush and can wait for the right place. So would it be wise to wait until after a mortgage to apply for the credit card or will this likely not have a huge impact? I've also got a couple of current account applications from the past couple of months on my report as well, would that have the same sort of impact on my report?

Cheers
