Can you recommend somewhere warm for New Year 2008/9?

We want to have a family get together for New Year 2008/9, somewhere that's very likely to be sunny - 3 couples, one child, one teenager, one baby. We'd like a swimming pool and an open fire too, if possible. We would be flying in from Edinburgh and London and would be happy to hire a car/MPV.
Has anyone been anywhere that fits the bill, and would like to recommend it?
Nothing too far away- I was thinking France, Spain,Portugal?
As always, thanks in advance for your opinions and help.:D

If you want sunny at NY then try the Canary Islands, anywhere on the European mainland stands a good chance of being grey and miserable.0

If ur thinking warm then don't go to Paris we spent last Christmas in DLP and it was a lot colder than it is here.
A couple of years ago we went to Portugal early Jan it was nice and sunny but you did have to wear your coat, definately worth considering.
