O/S Daily Thursday 2 June 2016
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that need/want them x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
DH up and gone into work for a short while to help his boss out as someone else has gone sick and left the boss in a mess. Both boys still in their pits, I woke early and then couldn't get back to sleep so have got up and have been enjoying a peaceful cuppa.
Dinner last night was pork steaks, mash, cabbage, brocolli and gravy, cheese for dessert. Tonight I'm not sure what we'll be eating as nothing really planned, but have the funeral today at lunchtime and I'm not sure what time we'll be home. It's going to be a really tough day, hoping that certain family members can be respectful, but somehow I doubt it.
I'm going to get a shower shortly then I need to head to the closest SM to get some money, tissues, and wraps for DS1's lunch tomorrow.
Keep safe and well x

Morning everyone.
Once again the sun is streaming in already. I hope it stays all day.
Yesterday I got my hair cut, I'm trying to grow the layers out a bit as the hairdresser had been cutting it too short and taking away a lot of the thickness. At one point I thought my hair was thinning, luckily it's not. I like the way it looks now. I've got my kinks back!
I'm off down to Glasgow, do some shopping, collect Mum and bring her back here. She'll really enjoy it if the good weather stays put.
The fridge is almost empty, theres no washing to be done and the house is clean.
My thumb is so much better this morning. I managed to not bang it against anything yesterday, that helps a lot. I got some iodine mesh and then layers of padding. I'm such a wuss. :rotfl:
I hope everyone has a lovely Thursday.0 -
Morning All
Lovely morning, the sun is just beginning to come through. Washing on the line and I've made some biscuits for my friends DD, she is going to guide camp and asked for some home baking. It was too warm to do it last night, much cooler this morning.
Gers - Sounds like your thumb is healing, good news on the baby front. Enjoy having your Mum to stay.
JackieO - Glad your enjoyed your meal out.
HH - Hope you get the dance class sorted, why are children so cruel.
Get well soon Lainey.
Right, the shower beckons, have a good day all. Take care. XX0 -
Good morning everyone
It's shaping up to be another beautiful morning here. The grand children stayed here last night and got me up at the crack of dawn.
My CMHT lady is coming here this morning to take me out and for once I am actually looking forward to it. I am hoping we can pop into Lidls as I have a few things I want to get.
Tea tonight depends on if we go shopping or not. I have all the ingredients to make caribbean pepperpot stew with rice and peas if I don't get to Lidls so it won't be a disaster.
I watched the programme the Big C and me last night on BBC1. It was very good if sad in places. Well worth a watch on catch up if you missed it.
Well I have to feed the kids and myself so I will be off. Hope the funeral goes ok nmlc, will be thinking of you x
Take care everybody xx0 -
Morning all
Cold damp and drizzly here again today.
I've fed the fish and taken hubby a cuppa, I'll drop him at work soon and then visit DD1.
I'm seriously thinking of turning the heating on for an hour to dry some washing.
I'm back into town this afternoon with DGS to get his birthday present and then I'm hoping to get another room in 'ready to sell' mode. I might pop to B&M to buy a couple of cushions to match my blinds.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs HesterChin up, Titus out.0 -
Morning all,
Its very cold here ! Ive put the lounge fore on for 1/2 hour to warm up I cant believe I have to put it on in June !
Work has been fairly quiet this week due to the weather its such a shame as we usually have a busy week this week and we have got the stock in accordingly. Oh well lets hope today might be a bit busier.
Chips for dinner tonight will go and look in the freezer in a while to see what we an have with them, shopping coming tonight too and I need to do a wash.
Have good days all xx0 -
Morning everyone,
Dull and overcast here but at least it not raining, am very envious of you folks with sunshine, I've had to get some of my winter tops out of the spare wardrobe
Feel much better this morning, was worried that wouldn't sleep as had so much during the day but was fine. Have just enjoyed boiled egg and marmite soldiers as missed tea last night.
Work today and then will do a stock shop, usually have it delivered but don't need so much and am not paying for delivery.
Tonight we are out to dinner with pals, will be good to have a catch up.
Nmlc hugs and hope all goes well today.
Have a good day everyone, take card folks x0 -
Morning :hello:
nmlc I hope today goes well x
Moorhen We got rid of the wooden shed and rehoused the chickens in a plastic one. We hardly get any mites now, and when we do they're easy to get rid off because they don't have any wood to hide in
On Christmas Eve a few years ago, I looked out of the window at 5am and saw something stood on it's back legs, stretched up against the bird table. It was still dark so I couldn't make it out properly but thought it was a large dog, who must be starving because it's trying to get to the bird food. I went downstairs and was about to go out to it then I realised it was a fox. I didn't know they could get that big, it seemed huge. It ran away, I kept an eye on the chicken run at dusk for weeks after that but it never came back.
My orders from Amazon have arrived. Must tell a couple of people that the birthday and Christmas money they gave me has bought a little stereo for the kitchen and an electric foot file thing. The foot file is weird, you plug it into your computer with a USB lead to power it
No sign of sunshine today but it's not raining, so I'll tidy the garden and sweep the patio this morning. The oven could do with a clean, it's not too bad but the shelves need a good scrub. I'll soak them for a while first to make the job easyI want to spend the afternoon doing nothing except for flicking through crochet books and choosing small projects that I haven't tried before.

Morning ((((((((((hugs)))))))))) if you need one.
Stress test today, hope its not a bike, My GP forbad me using bikes in the gym because of my knees........Update just had a call from the hospital, test cancelled, the consultant needs to review my echo beore I go for the test. Hooray!!
Another cold, dull and windy morning here, I need to clean the fire out, we will need it tonight, it gets very cold in the evening.
No idea what we are going to be doing now. OH has his jigsaw on the kitchen table, I might go and do a bit more to the bag.
Cauli and brocc gratin tonight, I got a bag of mishapen spuds from Morrison yesterday £2 for 5 kilos, nothing wrong with them at all. Will do a big one as a jacket spud with the gratin.
Tru - I buy bio soap powder from Lidl, run the bath last thing at night put in the oven shelves and washing powder and leave them over night, most of the gunk just washes off, just the occasional bit I have to use a brillo on.0 -
Good Morning chums ,glad the sun is shining for a few of you A dark black cloud seems to be stationed over Kent at the moment and its very grey and overcast,no sign at all of the sky let alone sun, just murk
:):)
Today I have the day off (apart from going round to Dds to see the dogs out into the garden at lunchtime.)
DD and the boys and her OH are going up to see his Mum in London.
I am quite happy about that as she is shortly moving to Somerset and the boys may not see her for a good while as she is not perhaps much of an hands on Granny. So its good they get to see her before she moves.
I shall potter around this morning and let the mutts out for a constitutional later .I do have to go to the library and return some books so lots of little jobs to catch up on.
Hope everyone who has it is making the most of the sun,no doubt it will get here eventuallyStill full up from our meal out last night so not a lot of cooking to be done today.I got some fish out of the freezer last night so that will be dinner tonight with some salad.
Have a good day chums

Good morning everyone and thanks to NMLC . I hope the funeral goes as well as it can .
Gers Glad to see the thumb is improving . Enjoy your time with mum , hope the sun keeps shining for you both .
Dumpling Wow you are looking forward to the CMHT lady ! Enjoy your trip .
Lainey So pleased you are feeling a lot better today .
Csarina That was last minute news I hope you haven't been too stressed about going today and make the most of the unexpected reprieve .
Still sunny here today but a bit fresher . I honestly wish I could send it to all of those struggling with wet laundry and chilly homes . Not what you expect this time of year .
Today is shopping day and other things to do outdoors . Unless it rains and cools, food will again be either salad or lightly steamed spiralised veg ( can you tell it's my new best friend ? ) I made a Crustless JackieO quiche which is lovely so that's sorted . Thanks Jackie .
Have a good day all and hope the weather picks up for those in need .
pollyIt is better to light a single candle than to curse the darkness.
There but for fortune go you and I.0
