Boiler making terrible noises even though it's off!

I am in a real mess right now. I am a mature student and totally broke right at the key point in final exams and final assessment. I have Lupus and related health problems which leave me bedridden for long stretches. So I have had a major crisis ( great timing) am unable to walk or leave my bed let alone sort anything right now. I have a care package being put in place by social services but it's very much basic care and I have no family or help.
Just saying this before anyone advises me to look at such and such or anything or what's the serial number etc. My life is restricted to this bed and laptop.
Now the boiler is making awful noises despite no heating being on and no taps or any hot water being called on. it is keeping me awake at night doing it pretty much every half hour.
It literally sounds like someone is dragging large furniture across a wooden floor. I have no money to call out a plumber and I think it needs to b switched off completely. Whilst I was still able to get about on crutches I knew there was a problem and wasn't using the heating or hot water which at least kept it quiet but now it's doing this all the time! I am in the process of applying for the assisted new boiler scheme but think I'm out of time.
Does anybody understand what's going on with it and is there a simple way to just turn it off? It's a baxi combi boiler.
Grateful for any advice as I am really quite scared this is dangerous.

Hi, it's pretty obvious you need help rather than advice, why don't you try posting this in a more suitable section of the forum because even if someone can diagnose this over the net it really isn't going to help you.
Posted in the right section someone might know how to actually get you physical and practical help.
I would certainly try CAB, Citizens adviceI like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

Is there a fused switch close to it. This should switch it off.is there a simple way to just turn it off? It's a baxi combi boiler.0 -
Could be a preheat function keeping a small amount of water hot so you don't have to wait quite so long when you turn the tap on.pickledtink wrote: »I am in a real mess right now. Good point, this is common on recent boilers.
Normally this is defeated by pressing the ECO button.
Problem I see is how does PT sort it as he/she can't get out of bed hence my take on the subject.I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Thanks all for responses. I just don' want the thing blowing up whilst I'm incapacitated. I rang a friend and asked them to locate the off switch and just turn it off. I don't need heating right now and the nurse can boil a kettle for the little hot water needed to see to me at the mo. So I'll think about it and sort it out once I'm in a better state. I posted in despair earlier after a sleepless night wondering if it was going to explode and I'd be trapped up here in the hope that someone knowledgeable would be able to identify if it was dangerous or not.Living on Earth can be expensive, but it does include an annual free trip around the Sun.0
