Early PIP renewal - what happens with the rest of current claim?

Hey everyone,
I've been on PIP since December 2014, my renewal date was set for May 2017, yet like most people I got my form through a year early to be reassessed before the end of the claim due to timeframes and such. I filled in the form, sent it off about two weeks ago, and expected it'd be quite a few months until I heard anything, but looks like I was wrong.
I have my face to face medical in two weeks and I'm aware that this is to be looking at a renewal claim that should run AFTER May 2017...but I'm just wondering whether they honour that the way you would expect?
I'm currently receiving the enhanced daily living component and was just wondering what would happen if for any reason they found I wasn't entitled to that, such as they took my claim away completely or I was dropped down to standard DLC? This shouldn't conceivably happen as my condition is the same, and I have just as much evidence stating so, but you know that sometimes you have to prepare yourself for the worst with these things
In my mind I should continue receiving payments until May 2017, but a friend of mine's mother had exactly that happen to her (she was dropped from enhanced to standard) and she is now receiving standard payments. That doesn't seem right at all, when they declared themselves that she'd be entitled until whatever date it was her claim was up.
So, if anyone has had a change in their PIP after renewal, did you get the payments immediately or continue on your old claim amount?
I hope I'm making sense as I'm pretty stressed right now, I was hoping to put the medical out of my mind for a while as I have a huge problem with stuff like that (for ref, I receive PIP for psychosis, ptsd, and the accompanying anxiety) and have been freaking out all day about the appointment and what happens after.
Thank you

If they decide you no longer entitled or lower your rate the payments change as of the date of the decision.deadlightbulb wrote: »Hey everyone,

Thank youPlay nice  Just because I am paranoid doesn't mean they are not out to get me.:j0 -
Oh ok. I guess that makes sense, rather than assuming someone's condition in 12 months time, but it doesn't seem fair either.
Thanks for your help

And if your claim is turned down you receive DLA for 4 weeks after the decision date then it stops completely.0

look at it from the other point of view.
if someone had their award raised ... would they feel it was fair to wait a year for it to be paid?
the review date is only ever a rough estimate and can be carried out at any time before that date.
the award reflects the condition of the claimant at the tim e of the claim ... not a year in advance.
if someones condition iinproves/worsens, they are supposed to inform the DWP and not wait to be reassessed0 -

I actually wouldn't think that at all, I have considered that, but the "guarantee" of payments in the future and continuing for as long as they said themselves that it would, would be better security for me. It certainly seems more fair to me than saying "yeah, we've considered you entitled until may 2017" and then possibly coming along and saying "we've decided you no longer are" and taking that security away. But that's just me.
I know, I wasn't waiting to be reassessed, as I said before, my condition is the same - I was simply reassessed a year early because EVERYONE is being reviewed this way, and the idea that they're possibly taking a bunch of people who were under the impression they'd have another year of entitlement and some of them will unfortunately probably have their claim declined...I was just asking what happens then, that's all
