Halifax Clarity C.C. and Halifax Rewards account

I clocked this today on Martin's site -

Our long-term winner is Halifax Clarity (eligibility calc / apply*) as it's a Mastercard - the underlying rate tends to beat Amex & Visa - and has low ATM withdrawal costs. (Plus if you're a Halifax Reward current account holder who pays in £1,000+, you can get a free £5 any month you spend £300 on the card.)

My highlighting of text in red.

I've never previously made a connection to a £5 cash reward for using a Clarity card where the holder also has a Halifax Reward account with a £1,000 monthly pay in.

To my knowledge the Reward current account has a £750 minimum deposit for a stand alone £5 - and no further cash payback benefit linkage to their Clarity card usage.

Are any resident experts hereabouts able to confirm ?

    Confirmation may be found in the draft T&Cs for the Clarity card on the Halifax website...

    Two different products that trigger £5 each based on different funding requirements for the current account.

    Yes, they're seperate £5 rewards.

    Reward account: £750 payin, 2 DD's
    Clarity: £1000 payin to Reward account, £300 spend per month

    So to activate both rewards, equalling £10 - Payin £1000 per month, have 2 DD's and spend £300 on the clarity.

    Thanks to all above, really helpful, and appreciated.

    Not sure how this slipped under my radar before yesterday.

    Here are the relevant extract from the Terms & Conditions - highlight of applicable text in red.

    11.1 - If you meet the requirements set out in condition 11.2, then for any statement period in which you:-

    (a) make at least £300 of Purchases (once any Purchases refunded in that period have been deducted);
    (b) stay within your credit limit; and
    (c) make your minimum monthly payment;

    you will qualify for a £5 credit to your account in the following month. The credit will not be treated as a payment to your account under these conditions.
    11.2 - To be eligible for the reward set out in condition 11.1, you must, at the time you enter into this agreement:-

    (a) hold a Halifax current account and pay in £1,000 or more each month;
    (b) use our switching service to move your current account to a Halifax Current Account and agree to pay in £1,000 or more each month;
    (c) open or hold a Halifax Ultimate Reward Current Account.

    I 'phoned this morning and sorted it out.

    There was a suggestion I could change to a Halifax Ultimate Reward Current Account to satisfy condition 11.2(c) - but I pointed out that was not necessary as I hold both a Halifax Clarity CC and a Halifax Reward Current Account.

    It seems my plastic is being changed to a Clarity Reward card.

    Did you also hear if they were pulling the benefit for only new customers or for existing customers too?

    And where/how did you hear?

    It's going to be pulled for all customers - interchange fee cap making it unprofitable.

    Where did you hear this? I'm currently in the process of moving some things over to Halifax solely to benefit from the Clarity Reward payment :mad:
