Car parking space purchase

I have a mortgage on a flat. The leaseholder is listening to bids for a parking space-should I go immediately through getting my own solicitor?
The person owning the leasehold is a bit "shady" and I don't trust him at all.

    Why would you need a solicitor to make a bid ???

    You are the leaseholder.
    I think you mean the freeholder.

    You don't need a solicitor in order to place a bid. If your bid is accepted, then you will need a solicitor for the purchase.

    Your first challenge is deciding how much you want to bid.

    Are you just bidding a figure for a weekly/monthly rental fee? If so, you probably don't need a solicitor for that kind of rental contract.

    Or are you bidding for a long lease - perhaps the same length as your flat lease? If so, you need to think about how much value a parking space would add to your flat. Given the likely amount of money involved, if your offer is accepted, you might want to instruct a solicitor to check the lease etc.
