Non fault accident

I had a small car bump last year with about £500 of damage. All sorted through the insurance and I'd forgotten about it all til a phone call tonight. Wrote it off as a spam call yet they had all the details of my accident. Asked them about why they were calling and they explained that it was due to the person who wasn't at fault being able to claim compensation on an accident if the damage was over £300.

Has anyone had any experience of this and is it something worth pursuing?
I don't want to end up out of pocket but if there is a way to get "free" money is it worth looking into?

You can chase your own ambulances if that's what you fancy - you don't need a company to do it for you.

Just sue the other party for whatever compensation you're looking for.

I would want to know where they got your personal data from.

My guess is that they stole it - or bought it from somebody who had stolen it.

I asked how they got my data and they explained that after a certain amount of time companies could "sell" details to a third party to deal with a case.

Decided it really isn't worth looking into - could end up out of pocket (even though they say you never will!) and id completely forgotten about it, my car is fixed, and it's not like there was any injury to me or time off work so what's the point?

It is a lie. Report them to the Claims Regulator and the Information Commissioner.
  • Hi, new to this forum stuff so may have posted in wrong place. My mother in law has had a call about this accident that she was in. The person on the other end of the phone has managed to gain more info from her and she believes that they have mislead her into thinking they were her husbands insurance. Turns out they were fishing for work and have since passed her info onto a solicitor. She always stated that she didn't was to go to court and was told she would need to. She was told there was money owing to her. The solicitors drafted a statement for her which was a pack of lies so she made her own statement which was truthful. The solicitors have now responded by stating they can no longer act for her and that she will now have to pay costs for the case as they feel she has been dishonest. This is rubbish as she has been completely honest. It was their statement that was full of lies, I believe in order to win the case. She would not want to lie, was told she wouldn't have to go to court and has never been given anything setting out costs. My question is this.... Where does she stand?? Anyone with any knowledge on this please help!!! I feel they have prayed on a elderly lady who has been had over by a bullying company of solicitors. Anyone had a similar experience and if so what happened?
