Cutting my hours down at work

I don't disagree but it is slightly depressing when people modify their hours to suit benefits rather than maximising income and only relying on benefits where necessary.
This is no different to the wealthy using various mechanisms to minimise tax due but now most of the population has caught onto these tricks it has made the whole system difficult and expensive, a very different Britain to that which existed only twenty or thirty years ago.
Think you has misunderstood my post, the OP wanted to know if their hours was cut what they would be entitled too, if anything.
Hence why I posted the calculator, at no point did I suggest this was to manipulate the system, after all we dont know if the OP was eligible anyway.
Some people need to reduce their hours due to family commitments or health issues, but need to make sure they are not doing it to a cost of income and being able to afford bills.
I looked into this before I reduced my hours, to make sure I would still be able to survive, if the calculator had given me a figure that was 0 or a low amount, I would have kept my hours.
I assume that is the same reason the OP is wanting to know what if anything they are entitled to, if their income reduces.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Banking & Borrowing, and Reduce Debt & Boost Income boards. No, I appreciate that and many peoples situations.
However the OP doesn't mention any health lr family commitments and appears to wants to reduce hours due to a lifestyle choice, there's nothing wrong with the latter.
My moan was more about the generality of the system requiring a certain circumstance or commitments, in terms of hours worked, income, family circumstance etc to suit benefits in terms of tax credits, housing benefit etc to maximise income at what may become minimal hours.
There have been a few threads in the pensions board detailing circumstances whereby individuals can salary sacrifice their salary down to minimum wage, from what would be a higher rate taxpayer starting point, and trigger many of the benefits mentioned above.0
