Pharmacies (along with GP surgeries) have been offering these health checks. They are not compulsory, you don't have to attend one, but if you do and you don't want to go to Boots there must be other options, surely.

I do know what you mean, I am also loath to give out personal information to a chemist because they are a retailer and could sell your data on, or use it for their own purposes. At least with the NHS it's all reasonably secure and no-one should have access to your medical records unless they are medically involved with your care.

Boots are not permitted to sell the data collected via health checks. The NHS however is a different story. Maybe that could be Twinkle's next subject to moan about? ;)

Exactly - my health conditions are NOTHING to do with a private profit related company - especially a USA based one !!

No one is forcing you to have a health check. If your ill founded concerns are more important to you than your health that is your prerogative.

Why are you concerned about a qualified healthcare professional doing a basic health check for you? Or is it specifically because it's Boots?

I think the level of qualification varies a lot. At a GP surgery it could be a qualified and experienced nurse, or it could be one of those HCAs, who I think have a BTEC or similar.

In a retail environment I would imagine it would be a sales assistant who has been on some sort of 'training course'. I wouldn't expect too much by way of medical qualifications, as I doubt it would be the actual pharmacist who carries out the health checks.

It says on the link someone posted above it will be with a qualified pharmacist? :)

Pharmacists should be being made use of more to do things like this.
