NHS Health-checks at Boots

My local doctors surgery has decided to farm out all NHS health-checks to Boots !!
Evidently - it was becoming too much for the surgery
I am concerned that Boots is not up to this and could use it as a chance to sell something unnecessary - and also what about private confidential issues between ourselves and our GP ?

It will be the CCG that has taken this decision, not the individual surgery.
What are you concerned they are not up to? The most complex thing going on will be a pin pr*ck test.
They will not have access to any more information than you give them, or that they already hold if you get your prescriptions from there. They certainly will not be selling you anything.
If you have any further queries speak to the pharmacist. Your concerns really are unwarranted.0 -
Doesn't this really depend on what is done at an NHS Health-Check ?0

I went into boots the other day asking advise for my sons verrucas. I asked them to check that they were verrucas first to confirm.
The pharmacist got my son to take off his shoe and sock at the counter in front of all the other customers, bless him he was trying to stand on one leg whilst showing the sole of his foot to the pharmacist. His balance isn't good so I had to hold him up.
When I asked I was expecting to be taken to a side room (as we are at the local chemist). The very least they could have done was taken him over to a chair to sit on first.0 -
I don't trust them - they couldn't even get my prescription right....missbiggles1 wrote: »First you were complaining that they'd be doing too much.....0 -
Pharmacies (along with GP surgeries) have been offering these health checks. They are not compulsory, you don't have to attend one, but if you do and you don't want to go to Boots there must be other options, surely.
I do know what you mean, I am also loath to give out personal information to a chemist because they are a retailer and could sell your data on, or use it for their own purposes. At least with the NHS it's all reasonably secure and no-one should have access to your medical records unless they are medically involved with your care.0 -
I would contact http://www.healthcheck.nhs.uk/contact_us/
Check their general page too. I found them helpful when I went for my first NHS HC this year. I wasn't at all impressed with the information provided or consultation by my surgery. I discovered issues with the online form my practice and health authority were using which has been corrected. However, the quality of checks made and presentation of result left me feeling rather let down and concerned.Free thinker.:cool:0 -
Exactly - my health conditions are NOTHING to do with a private profit related company - especially a USA based one !!~_e5ther_~ wrote: »Pharmacies (along with GP surgeries) have been offering these health checks.
