Brilliant Jackie. I started with a two mile route, then upped it to three. I do the same walk every day, sometimes the opposite way round, or you can make a new route if you get bored. It's a fairly accurate way of checking distances.

Thanks Ilona, that is a brilliant website!

I've often wonder how far in miles I'm walking. I have a pedometer, but I don't think it's very accurate.

Using bike hike, I can see that I did 3.4 miles today, but yesterday I only did 1.82miles. My standard, 'quick walk' route is 1.5 miles, I've recently added another loop of roads to it, and it comes out at 1.73 miles. But I need to be upping the ante a bit, to at least 2.5 miles a day, so I can use the site to see what extra roads I can add.

    Love it!

Glad it's useful to you. You can zoom in to street level, for walking, or out a bit for a cycle route, or zoom out to main roads and motorways if you want to work out how many miles it is to a particular town if you are driving.

Well I didn't achieve much yesterday - I suddenly came down with something that felt like flu - headache shivering weakness and trembling - felt dreadful. It's wearing off now, but I'll be staying close to home today. I still have a couple of reports to do from my meetings, so perhaps I get them out of the way, then other correspondence, laundry and ironing. Ilona - I think the walking challenge is a good idea, and the route mapper. I have several good routes near me, some in parkland and some on lit roads (for winter). I'll try to map a few so that I have some variety.

One thing I did manage to do yesterday - I signed up to walk 500 miles by the end of the year.

(but I think I'll start when this bug has worn off).

Sorry to hear you have succumbed to the dreaded lurgy. Me too. Yesterday I felt quite grim so just stayed close to the house. Used the time efficiently to make inroads in a huge pile of paperwork.

Today I feel much better so need to play catch up on all the things I had planned to do yesterday but had to postpone.

The good news is I only spent £6 yesterday, making a total of £58 for the week so feeling quite chuffed. Plus I still have plenty of meat, fish, dairy and dry goods so apart from milk and veg I shouldn't need to spend much next week.

I did renew my senior rail card and decided to go for a 3 year one, saving £20.

Joint of beef in slow cooker, have plenty of fruit and veg for the next couple of days so hopefully a no soend day today.

Having said I need to have some keys cut, should be around £10 and I might browse the chazzers. :rotfl:

I hope everyone is well today. I still have this horrible lurgy so I'm staying close to home. Laundry, ironing, paperwork and phone calls on the agenda.

It will be a NSD however.

I forgot to reply to Serendipitious - when I do my sister's shopping, she phones me to tell me what she needs, to save me calling at her house twice. It was my idea so I can't complain. I do my own shopping at the same time, and often I also shop for the club.
I am working on my budget and will use that to manage my money, rather than trying to reconcile what's in the bank.

Hi Newly Thrifty - how are you doing, are you over your bug yet. Hope you are feeling better. Just about our whole family has had it and it is very draining.

Night before last I had a lovely time, I lit the chimenea and burned all the paperwork I had sorted, with a glass of wine, just watching the flames.

I have made the most of the weather and have washed all my throws etc.

I bought some plants - mainly flowers but also 4 tomato plants so today I will be pottering in the garden.

Apart from the paperwork I am A bit behind with my planned decluttering this week but the weather has been so nice I've decided to just enjoy the lovely weather instead. I can do housework and decluttering when it's raining........:rotfl:
  • I'm sorry I haven't posted for so long. I had flu, and couldn't get out of bed for a couple of days. After that I felt so feeble that I didn't even switch on the laptop. Thank goodness for lovely friends and family. I am very lucky. Off now to check my supplies, and to try and catch up with everything - a bit at a time. I hope everyone is well and that you managed to enjoy the good weather.
