Magic Eye not working

I bought an iO adaptor to go in back of Sky box to get Sky in other room to use a magic eye to change channels etc. No RF out socket on new Sky box, just iO port which its plugged into. Sky is working on other TV but no light on magic eye. I've set the RF to power on by going to services on Sky but still no luck. Has any one any ideas please? Thanks

Are you sure Magic is not faulty, by trying in another set up?
  • Not sure how / where to try it. I did have an old magic eye so rooted that out & still that wont work

I had this trouble when I got mine installed. There were two things that needed fixed
    - I had to change a setting on my Sky+ box - https://www.sky.com/help/articles/set-up-a-tvlink-to-watch-sky-tv-in-another-room
    - I had to replace the wall mounted aerial socket with a simpler one (mine had some components in it and it got replaced with a cheap one from a Pound store

Has worked ever since (apart from one magic eye failing a while back)

  • Checked the link & seem to be doing everything right ... I havnt got aerial into the wall socket though, just from iO port to eye

I just used a HDMI version of the magic eye and it worked like a dream.

Is it a pre-bought coaxial cable with the connections at each end already attached or is it a made up cable? - If its the latter then its probably down to that, i found that when I made one up the signal was passing through but not the power, ended up buying something like this and it was all good after that

You mention the new Sky box and no RF output - where is the Magic Eye connected to then? If you've got the picture and no control, and no LED, it means there's no power - this has to be enabled on the Sky box, and it only goes out on 1 of the 2 RF outputs on the older boxes - well labelled though.
I've set the RF to power on by going to services on Sky but still no luck
So this new Sky box of yours has no RF outputs, but does have a setting for power over RF?! Your Magic Eye needs power which it doesn't seem to be getting.

New sky boxes have done away with the RF feeds on the back and use an IO link, it works pretty much the same and you go into the same options as you would with an older box to choose the frequency and to turn the power on.

    As demonstrated here

  • Thanks for all the replys & Kingsd316...that sounds worth trying as its a made up lead at the moment. Borrowing a magic eye of someone at weekend just to make sure the one I bought isn't a faulty one. Could it be a faulty iO adaptor...or maybe problem with iO port on Sky box. I understand theres a problem with power getting though even though its set to on in services etc.. Without trying all the different options its hard to tell. Thanks loads for trying to help anyway

Try plugging the magic eye directly into the IO link. If it lights up its your cable at fault.
