Lawn edging

Im looking to edge my lawn with these sort of bricks.

http://www.diy.com/departments/outdoor-garden/paving-walling/block-paving/DIY780368.cat?&prodNum=67&fromUtil=true&fromFacetForm=false&searchMode=and&sortOption=price-ascending-numprop&pageSize=12

Ideally I want to have them side on so that the border can be thinner but they look a bit unslightly on the edges (in the photo at least). Wondered if anyone had done this with these sort of bricks? I wanted to have them flat with the lawn so can mow over them rather than anything raised.

These are 50mm deep and the nibs come with the product.

For a smoother finish select a suitable brick - frost resistant - and this would only be 65mm instead of 50mm. So not much difference there, nor on price if you go for a semi engineering Class B - which comes in red/orange only.

A blue Class A would also be suitable but perhaps three times the cost.

To be honest if you just want a single brick edge, they need to be sat on/in concrete other wise they will never be stable,

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

Setting the bricks in cement isnt a problem, I just want a brick that wont crack when its frosty but also that isnt too thick!

Then go for an engineering brick as Furts said, or for the ultimate in durability if cost isn't a concern then blue bricks, class A type. You could actually alternate blue/red/bl.... for a bit of design.

I am looking to do the same thing.

Would block pavers (the kind you use on driveways) be a cheaper option? I presume pavers are all designed to be frost resistant.

Yes, these are what is shown in the 1st link the poster gave, he just doesn't like the raised spacers. It would be the cheaper option, by far.

Just seen some other bricks that look nice here but I cant seem to find them at wickes or elsewhere, does anyone know where I can buy them from and a rough price vs bricks?

That's what I've used. Never had a problem with them as a lawn edge or when used on the patio. All mine came from Wickes.
I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.

Well it's a blog for a site called paving superstore, who seem to sell that kind of product if you follow the links at the top....
