Austin Reed - I know it's not money saving but...

Options
... I paid in full (£500) for a bespoke suit on 23rd April and it was announced today that they've gone bust! Should I wait for contact from the administrators or go straight to my credit card company to try and get the money back?

They're trading until end of June from what I read, when have they said it would be ready? I didn't think they'd announced the administration today, administrators have been there a while and today announced they couldn't sell all of the shops and therefore most of the stores will likely close (at end of June).

We ordered a pair of trousers not bespoke but fairly certain it will turn up, if it doesn't then no doubt the CC company will sort it

    The administrators' Q&A says:
I have paid a deposit for a bespoke suit/suit hire, what will happen now?
    • Existing deposits and orders will be honoured. Customers should contact their local store directly for specific queries regarding their order

So it sounds like you should get the suit.

However, the administrators are probably doing this as a gesture of goodwill (to protect the reputation of the brand). They are probably not legally required to honour orders made before 26th April.

So they could still change their minds - in which case you should claim from your credit card co.
  • I hope you get your suit.
