Well done. You did it so needn't have worried you'd blow it and go and treat yourself instead. Great achievement. Is getting rid of one of the other credit cards a possibility this year PSL? As the loan finishes October it would be great to end 2017 with just 3 or 4 cards and no loans? No enthusiastic. I just don't earn enough to do anymore. It's going to be 1 loan, credit card and 1 overdraft.
Everything is 0% bar the loan at 4% for the moment but some expires soon. I will keep an eye on this.
Had a speedy day yesterday. Lunch and drinks with friend. Now nothing till Tuesday 4th (which is good).
Haven't yet got used to the clocks changing. Very tiring week.2017- 5 credit cards plus loan

Been so tired all week.

Verbatim I think you have way more faith in me than I have in myself.
To be truthful I feel quite traumatised at the loss of my bonus. I feel really sad that all the money I had been given- my personal best bonus ever had gone to pay off just 2 debts.
There is no solution to this, I'm not looking for a response really. More just getting my feelings about because I know it was the right thing to do, but that doesn't stop it being very painful. And hard. And really apart from strong will power there isn't very much stopping me from maxing out my credit card.
I'm not saying that I am going to,(and I know it might sound like that) I'm just saying the desire to spend doesn't go away just because your balance is zero.
This month is going to be hard. Today I'm having lunch out of the office by myself and feel guilty already about the unnecessary £7 but I had very busy week, wasn't organised and desperately needed to be on my own away from everyone talking about the holidays they are buying with their bonus.
At least some people are same position or similar to me and some are saving for flats but right now it is a hard road.2017- 5 credit cards plus loan

Aw PSL.
We will all be in the same boat with bonus decisions being made in the next 1-2 months.
A lot of people, myself included are likely to be in the same boat as you.
I will be gutted aswell & can totally relate with wanting to go on a mad spending spree to make yourself feel better albeit for a very short period of time until the spenders guilt kicks in!
Chin up lovely.

Hi PSL,
Yes I do have faith in you!
You've just done the most difficult thing so far on this journey to debt freedom. You haven't just talked about it, you've done it. You didn't deviate from your plan, you stuck to it. You thought you might go mad and spend the lot but you didn't. Yes it must be tough in that environment just now but you should be really proud. To see how far you've come and how much has changed since the beginning I suggest you might read your diary at the beginning. I think the £7 for lunch today might be excused!:). Think of it as your way of preventing meltdown!
So you're 2 debts down with the loan on its way out and gone by October, what's next? As ever, (my broken record I know), plan your way out, work out what you need to do when and stick to budget. Including of course what's important to you in said budget.
Of course you can do it. Look what you've just done!
A very proud of you today,

I totally second Verbatim's post, well done you.
It won't be an easy road, but you can do it and your life will be so much better when the debt is all behind you. As Dolly Rocker has said you will not be alone on the journey.:DThe best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time. (Abraham Lincoln)0 -
Well done PSL paying the overdraft and one card. Have you now removed the overdraft facility and closed the credit card?
Next step is work out which 0% finishes first and make a good effort in reducing that before the interest jumps up massively.
Good luck and keep going£2 Savers Club for 2022 #120 -
Hi PSL glad you are back on the diary. I paid a chunk off one last year and I didn't get the rush of joy, it was a bit of a damp squib really. Yes one debt was gone, but there were still loads of others to go, and a chunk of money...just not there.
However later on in my debt busting I did start to get more excited as I killed off each debt (and a bit debt-bloodthirsty- ha ha you're dead next month mbma card!) certainly I have been happy of late when I can pre-pay things because I have a bit put aside each month as well. Honestly even if you can try and put £5 in an old sock each month at the back of a drawer, I guarantee that come October if you need a new winter coat or something, you will feel really pleased with yourself for having a bit put towards it, and then a bit of joy.
Even more so now, As each debt dies off there's less to manage, less to think about and allocate funds to. It does start getting better. One day you will get the bonus and be able to book a holiday with it, with no debts, no overspends and no niggling worries.Jan 20 - NST challenge
