Extremely High Electricity Bill - 1 Bedroom Flat

Hello all again,
I've just read it again using 1 rate for day and 4 for night and the 4 rate is much higher than the 1 rate but on my bill it is reversed. The rate with the lower numbers also says "Rate NOW" whereas the higher number says "Rate", our Night rate doesn't kick in for another 2 and half hours so i'm guessing it looks like the meter has been read the wrong way so I will be calling Scottish Power tomorrow!
Thank you,
Jack
That should make it a normal bill then.:footie:Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)
Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money.

Hi Jack, it looks like they have transposed your readings, let us know the outcome. Davie0

Hi all,
They have indeed had the readings wrong for the whole year! They've started a cash which can take up to 2 weeks to be resolved but in the mean time have kept my direct debit at £58 so good news all round. Hopefully we will only owe a little or be in credit (If so I will be asking for this in cash).
Thank you everyone for your help, I never would have thought to go down this route and neither did the two advisers I spoke to who seemed to think I ran a small festival from my flat on a daily basis.
Would have actually thought they would have had this as part of their training but I've had bad feedback about Scottish Power so comes as no surprise!

Hi,
why blame Scottish Power?
By your own admission you've been reading the meter wrong, and giving SP the wrong figures.
SP can only generate a bill/statement on the figures that you have provided.
You should be able to calculate yourself what you have used and what you have paid over the year, using your start readings and present readings.
Glad you've got it sorted,0 -
Hi,
We only gave them the initial readings last May over the phone, they came out and read the meter last November and this May so shouldn't the meter reader be aware of what rates correspond with what reading? Surely if they had read the night and day rate properly when their meter reader came out and input the correct figures they would have seen they had been switched? Saying that the meter reader in May actually only checked what flat he was reading when he left (He got the wrong flat number) and had to change the address on his PDA so it wouldn't surprise me.
The only time I have read the meter was when I was trying to calculate my usage over a 14 day period although this was for my own benefit and did so on the assumption that the figures on my bill were correct.
Thanks though, I'm glad it's sorted too.[Deleted User] wrote:Hi,
