i have no doubt at al that this is a a scam but thought i'd put it to you to see what you think.
my mother and father have been having emails (not through ebay) about a item that they have not paid for. this morning they have received a email saying that the person is reporting them to paypal due to this. they haven't bid on anything of his, not won an item of his, not paid for a item of his. but are really worried about these emails. i have blocked the person from thier email and am trying to block them from their ebay account. what do you think?

A child smiles 500 times a day, compared to an adult over 25 smiling 15 times a day.

Get em from time to time, just ignore them. They're trying to get your paypal passwords etc!
I usually find that there is something wrong in the details, or the return email address is Paypal@another I S P.co.ukMy broad mind and narrow waist are slowly swapping places!!0 -
This sounds like a classic 'phishing' or 'spoof' email. Don't click on any links, don't reply - just forward, unedited, the whole email to spoof@paypal.co.uk or spoof@ebay.co.uk (depending on whom the email is supposedly from) whereupon you should get a reply with advice on how to change your personal information if it's been compromised.
Also, be aware that opening the emails may be a risk - I am quite sure that's where a recent virus came from, and I had to wipe my pc and start from scratch
