Couples travel insurance?

I have my travel insurance with my bank account at Lloyds, it's a joint account but my husband is no longer included as he's over 80.
He has a few medical conditions and lloyds will cover him but for a single trip want £760.
I can get his insurance with stay sure covering everything for less than half of this.
What I'm wondering is, if one of us was taken ill whilst away, would the others insurance cover them to stay together?
Should I be looking at adding myself to the Staysure policy?
I feel a little confused.

Check your policy, and if in doubt ring your providers. They are the only people who can comprehensively tell you what you need to know, it will be a quick phone call, get them to email it you so you have written proof and print it out, take it with you.

It is easier if you are covered by one policy. In the event of one of you being admitted into Hospital, it would just be one phone call to the emergency assistance line. With two different policies and two different emergency numbers, in a stressful situation, this would just make it more difficult.
So you might choose to be added to your Husbands Insurance. There are quite a lot of providers of Travel cover for older people with medical conditions, so it is worth phoning around. The comments I post are personal opinion. Always refer to official information sources before relying on internet forums. If you have a problem with any organisation, enter into their official complaints process at the earliest opportunity, as sometimes complaints have to be started within a certain time frame.0
