LEC Fridge leaking water

I have a LEC undercounter fridge that is leaking water. It appears to not be draining in the hole at the rear of the fridge. If we don't wipe out the channel on a daily basis the water runs all out on the floor.

We have done the usual, see if it is blocked. Put wire down the hole.

It seems clear.

Any suggestions?

The obvious 1 is what you are doing, but the actual blockage can be a way down the drain hole, I use a barbeque skewer, a cocktail stick isn't long enough. Split milk is out usual culprit.

The drain exits onto a tray over the consensor so any dripage simply evaporates.

You always get some condensation, this is due to warm air being admitted everytime the door is opened. This then cools and cannot hold the same moisture as when it was warm so condensation form. Being a fridge unlike a freezer it does not form frost, just runs out.

The only other issue is that the door seals aren't good and so a constant flow of warm air is passing them overwhelming the drain, but I still think it's the blocked drain. On our fridge you can see the stick you use from the back of the fridge, given yours is under counter it should be easy to do the same

Pour some water into the hole, if it runs away - good, if it doesn't - you've still got a blockage. If it's still blocked you need something longer (as said above) or you could try putting a straw into the hole & blowing. Don't suck.

Thanks for the replies, we do use a very long piece of copper wire, perhaps it isn't wide enough?

Will pour water in the hole later. If it turns out to be a blockage, whats the easiest way to remove?

Just poking it out should do it, the bit of water held in the catch area should flush it through.
Unless you've been keeping grain or something hard in the fridge it's just likely to be congealed cream or milk etc.

It's very common to have to do this, kids being the worst offenders by spilling stuff.;)

Fridge is very clean & no spillages have occurred. Even when the wire has been put through, water still remains

Can you see the catch tray/wire prodder to the rear as I mentioned earlier?

Is the fridge sat level to ensure the door seals correctly?

Not to put it too bluntly, if there is water sat over the drain hole then it's still blocked.

Forget the wire use a skewer, if you are poking about without being able to see the other end you may well come into contact with the compressor electrics :eek:

Another 1 we 'll never know the answer to:A

    Edited;

    I'll take that back then.

Seriously feedback, good or bad encourages people posting in an effort to help to keep doing that.

Otherwise it's that stony ground feeling, :D Don't use the wire ever again.
