Can't see on website yet, advert in the Metro today.

New customers only, must switch with two SOs or DDs, but nothing about them needing to pay out. Need to apply for Advance or Premier.

Similar theme to the M&S branded version, if you stay, you get a bit extra.

Edit: the £50 is after 12 months, not 6.

In my copy of the Metro (page 14) it says you get the extra £50 after 12 months, not 6.

    New customers only.
    Advance or Premier accounts only.
Deadline for applications is 10 July 2016.
Must use the switching service within 30 days of account opening.
Minimum of 2 standing orders or direct debits.
£150 paid within 70 days of account opening.
    6 months interest free overdraft.
To receive the additional £50 after 12 months, you must register for online and/or mobile banking within 60 days of account opening and meet the eligibility criteria of the account for at least 9 out of the first 12 months.

Advance is the one with the 1750 a month pay in. I hear some people have to provide proof of salary in branch before they get that account. Only anecdotal evidence from on here.

I think they have updated their website now, as I can see the total £200 switch bonus:

    https://www.hsbc.co.uk/1/2/current-accounts/hsbc-advance

    https://www.hsbc.co.uk/1/2/hsbc-premier

On a side note, does anyone know if you have a HSBC Advance or Premier account whether you get a UK based person when phoning them?, or do you still get the Indian Call Centres?

No proof, but pretty much fits in with my experience. I applied for Advance recently (wanted the 6% regular saver). Application held for further checks, then letter received a few days later saying that they could not offer me this account, but gave me a ref number to take to branch if I wished to open standard account, which they would be happy to do. My income is below £1750 a month and I was not surprised that my application was rejected from what I had read elsewhere. No harm trying though. My assumption from this is that I was rejected purely on “affordability”. Hey ho.
  • Hi

I have got HSBC advance account with £10 a month we save ISA if you put £25 every month.

I applied for the account and got it opened straight away, no proof was required in branch at all. Infact i actually got more from HSBC in one switch than anyone else. I switched my account with all requirements and put in £1750 for the first 2 months or so but in the second month rather than transferring the money on 1st of the month, i transferred some money from barclays thinking it will take two hours to transfer and by the time it will be 1st of next month but it actually transferred on same date of 31st.

Hence, i asked the customer service and as i feared they said i will not get my switch bonus due to above, so i raised it with complaint department and within few weeks they said don't worry we will give you £120 anyway, so i got that and then after a month or so i got automatic £120 switch bonus again for the switch automatically.

I still also get £10 for isa every month till next month or so.

so yeah, good ole bank HSBC

The read the HSBC t&cs for this offer, you are a new customer if you haven't had a HSBC account for 6 months.

I didn't need proof of salary but did need to prove ID. The only bank that has asked me to do that. If you apply be prepared for it to be a long drawn out process to actually get an account.
Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.

Yep. I applied for the Advance account in June 2015 and was rejected. However, I gave it another shot a couple months ago and was accepted, although (as someone else said here) it was a long, drawn-out process.

I applied for the Advance twice before and was rejected both times. Then when I actually was accepted for a different account (when there was an incentive in Feb time), it was such a hassle that I missed the deadline. Don't think I'll bother with HSBC.

Switched to HSBC last year for the goodies and everyone complained it was long-winded process. If you went into a branch it was a very much quicker operation- I was well pleased with the result!

I too had to prove ID but I hadn't banked with any in that bank group for many years whereas I have banked with the Halifax group for years and years. However think that Lloyds wanted ID 4 years ago......
