Fish mating

Options
Haven't had any 'baby' fish for a few years. Had the pond cleaned earlier this year, frogs and newts were rehomed - though have seen one newt in the pond.

Just about to feed the fish early afternoon, when rather than them looking for it - they were too busy mating!

The funny thing is, after the clean, not a lot of pond weed left, and the re-planted stems haven't grown enough yet, so the fish have chosen to spawn in the foliage of two marigolds. At one point saw three fish lined up alongside each other beside the plant container and the pond edge. These, incidentally are situated the opposite end from the waterfall.

So, any estimates when I could start looking with any chance of seeing the first fish - tiny as they may be!?

And, they have been 'at it' all day!

    Congratulations - It's a Fish!

Assuming Koi or 'goldfish' 2 - 3 weeks to see fry in the plants, about 2 months for them to be swimming in the school.

You might want to add some extra cover (I know someone who used a pond cover just over the corner of his pond), to give them a hidden spot to feel safe in if there aren't too many plants about.
That sounds like a classic case of premature extrapolation.

Second day - and they are still 'at it' - indeed the marigold bound containers have been 'moved' as a result of their flapping!
