Northern Ireland Car Insurance - Price Hikes?

Hi All, Has anyone noticed price hikes in insurance for cars, my renewal has jumped from £280 last year to £590 this year on a like for like basis. I queried this with Hughes who advised the market was tough at the moment. Does anyone have any advice on where is competitive for Northern Ireland car insurance? Thanks

Legally insurance companies are only allowed to ask about claims in the last three years and convictions in the last five.
