I have just read Martin's thread about the new version of MS Word
http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=493054&highlight=microsoft+word+compatibility
but it doesn't answer my question.
One computer has Word 97 and another has Word XP.
Can a document be edited on both machines?
The Word XP computer cannot change (it's at work!) but I could use an open source programme on the Word 97 computer if that was the only way to edit the docs.

Word 97, Word XP, Word 2000 all use the same file formats, so you should have no problems.0
