Do you enter comps if you only want to win half the prize?

i couldn't decide whether to enter the recent Heart comp offering a Haven holiday and £1000.
I could really do with the £1000 but I have no interest in staying in a Haven park - it's just not my kind of holiday but if I won would I be depriving another family of it that wouldn't get a holiday otherwise?
Is it possible to claim half a prize if you win something like that and ask the company to give someone else the other half?

Don't quote me, but I doubt a company would say, yes, you can have £1000 cash and we'll give the holiday to another winner. I may be wrong though......
I don't enter holiday comps because I have kids and the dates or locations are not usually convenient for us. I have never entered to win one just in the hope of winning the spending money though.:TA big thanks to all who post and sprinkling lucky dust to all who enter :smileyhea0 -
I always enter a comp where there's a spending money element!! I'd happily spend a week or even a day doing something I wouldn't usually choose to do for a grand (Or even a couple of hundred quid!! lol).
I entered a Capital radio comp to win Dynamo Tickets and there was £200 spends with that - I won!! I had a great time at his show, I would never have thought I would enjoy a magic show but it was fab!!
You never know, you might enjoy a Haven Holiday!!Debbie0 -
I'd do the same, to an extent, even if I don't fancy the non cash part of it, I could probably put up with it for the money!
The annoying ones for me, living in London, are the comps where I really want to go to an event here but it comes with a hotel that would be more hassle than it's worth having to stay in, but I'd do it to get to an event I otherwise couldn't afford or even get tickets to.0 -
I'd enter anyway and deal with the secondary element at the time if I won.Thank you to everyone who posts on the competitions boards. You all rock!0

I don't , there have been a few recently which have been tickets to an event ( usually in London) plus ehat I want I'd hate to win only to be told I'd have to collect part 2 from the eventproud gran to 4 lovely boys and one little girl0

I'm the opposite. I don't live in London and would love to stay in a hotel there and go sightseeing, so if the prize were a hotel stay and say tickets to an event, I would go to an event simply in order to have the hotel stay.0 -

Thank you for all your replies.
For comps that are just offering a holiday I will only enter if I have enough annual leave left - i work 6 days a week and bank hols so even going for a weekend break uses up my allowance so I wouldn't want to go on a holiday I didn't really want to do.
However, i live in London in a tiny flat so I am always entering anything that involves a London Hotel stay as an excuse to get out of it for a night even if I'm not especially interested in an event that is part of the prize - like some of you I would go along for the experience just to give it a try.0 -

I have just seen a competition where exactly that I would LOVE half of the prize (holiday in Majorca) and I would hate the other half (having to run a marathon in Majorca)...
I won't be entering that one... lol..June 2016 Wins: £64 Argos Voucher :j July 2016 Wins: £25 Cash :j0 -

I saw that one too - who in their right mind would want to run a maraton in the heat! If I didn't have kids, I would probably be prepared to enter comps just for the experience and cash, but mine are young and I cannot just go off for a night here, there and everywhere at the drop of a hat, plus I live up in the land of Geordies so not many hotel/tix type comps in my neck of the woods! Travelling down to London is expensive! If I take my kids away during term time I get fined! Though I wouldn't change my status for the world!:TA big thanks to all who post and sprinkling lucky dust to all who enter :smileyhea0
