After a chat with the very nice guy from the AA they have refunded my card with £102. They admitted I was grossly overcharged for the coil pack. They also agreed that my membership covers everything except the cost of replacement parts. The excuse they used was I was being charged as a non member.

Thanks to everyone for their input and advice

Glad you got a satisfactory result, but I somewhat think that they've made this offer just to make your complaint go away. Far cheaper for them in the long run than to have to continue dealing with it.

    +1

Given they're losing customers hand over fist its hardly a surprise they have a "customer retention" pot.

But that is only a good result if you learn to compare prices before you commit to buy!. Considering you were at your house at the time why didn't you check the price was reasonable before getting it fitted?.
If you didn't ask then that's even worse!
