Computer
Clinometer
Heart rate monitor
Map holder
Front lamp
Brake levers
Gear levers
Bar tape
(The front lamp and map holder share the same bracket)
!!!! I forgot about the brake levers, I knew I was doing something wrong.
Oh, and bar tape is a good one, mine just has some rubber grips, which are just about good enough.0 -
I don't bother with bells on my bikes as I find it just seems to annoy people for some reason because they don't hear it until the last moment then get a fright when they do. Even with a lot of noise coming from big tyres or a loud free wheel clicking people don't seem to notice the bike approaching so I just slow right down or keep a wide berth.
This time of year when I'm doing much night riding I don't need any of the heavy duty lights and it means in a crash, it's more to straighten up or in some cases try to find and put back together. More stuff on the bars particularly light brackets tends to make it a pain for flipping the bike upside down for unplanned maintenance.

Wow! I had to google that to find out what it was!
It's a toy rather than an essential, but an interesting one nevertheless. It's fascinating to see all the roads that are going uphill when they appear to going down or vice versa, and explains why some roads seem inexplicably easy or hard to ride.

I have my Garmin set to show the current gradient, it's a little delayed but I find it surprisingly useful because as you say some roads appear to be going downhill when it's uphill and vice versa, The reason I find this useful is when on the road bike and finding it easier or harder than expected, I can check the gradient and see if I should be pushing more or easing off a little which improves my overall speed.

This is my standard 'cockpit'. Garmin forerunner + mount, and my Lezyne front light
No more needed!Make everything as simple as possible, but not simpler.0 -
