My laptop screen has started flashing on and off pink. It is just under 2 years old and is guaranteed by John Lewis for 3 years. How do I fix this ? Is it serious ? Do I take it back to JL ? Is it safe to give a computer with all my personal details banking etc to some one to fix?
help please!
ps u can see that I am not very techie minded

It is usually the ribbon cable for the screen that needs replacement.
If it has to go back remove the hard drive and put it back when they send it back.I do Contracts, all day every day.0 -
Maybe it gets embarrassed. ;-)0

What does a laptop have to be embarrassed about?
Same as all of us, getting out of a car without underwear.0 -

You need to return it to JL. When I spoke to their tech support team about a possible problem with my laptop recently they said it was very likely that my data would be lost during the repair. I would suggest that you back up everything to 2 external source and then delete it from your hard drive.0

Just as an update on this. I phoned John Lewis today - they contacted HP and my laptop hasn't even been looked at yet. 6 weeks without my laptop and I am getting a bit cross.0
