If I switch from bank A to bank B then bank C, what would happen to a payment into account A ?
Would it
be rejected as account is closed
go straight to C
go to B who would then send to C

It would go to C. All redirected electronically.0

Is this an educated guess or something you know for sure ?0

I take it you are assuming that account C has been switched to before a payment was ever made out of account B?0

i'm thinking
use bank A for years
switch to bank B - use as main account
switch to bank C a couple of months later0 -
I would expect the switching service process would result in the arrivals being forwarded to where you switched to (at least for a period of time)
So the payment would be forwarded from A to B and then the payment would be forwarded from B to C0 -
Situation should never arise...if you're on top of your finances! I mean, you'd provide all those crediting/likely to credit your account with your new 'Bank C' details wouldn't you?
So your question is more hypothetical, and simply being asked out of interest?0 -
I'd agree with LXdaddy that it'll be A to B then B to C, it can't happen any other way as A knows nothing about your account at C.0

Yes more hypothetical than anything else. I might be about to do another switch, but I don't plan to use the redirection.
It is however nice to know that if anyone does use old details I'm covered. I have twice before(different employers) had expenses paid into the the wrong account, as they updated the payroll, but not expenses0
