Hi all,
A couple months ago i bumped at 2mph into the back of another car due them slamming on the brakes for no reason (i am partially to blame for not keeping my distance), but no damage was made into any of the cars.
I notified my insurer of the accident, and no claim has been made yet, it has been over a month. However my renewal went from £700 to 3600 because the insurance company says that the claim is not closed yet as other driver can still make a claim.
Now do I have to notify other insurance companies that i was involved in this accident even if no claim was made yet?
Regards

If the question asked is "have you had any accidents or claims in the last x years?" then definitely yes.
If it only asks about claims, I would say that it's probably best to either say "yes", adding a note that a claim "may" be pending if that is possible, or ask the insurer concerned.
The last thing you want is to say "no" and change insurer on that basis, only to find that a claim comes in later and your new insurer cancels the policy due to non-disclosure - which you will have to declare every time you want to change insurer again.0 -

Yes.
ps If the accident was as you described, you sound 100% at fault.0 -
Reading your post be careful it could be a crash for cash if they just slammed their brakes on for no reason0

hi jobdone1,
yes my first thought was yes to be crash for cash, as the lady car was old, and it had several mark from previous crashes. Since then i installed a dashcam in my car.
Yes i know i should have given more space, i was tired that day and in a rush to get to work, not a good combination, (but yes i have learnt my lesson, dashcam and more defensive driving). but the lady moved her car forward a bit and just slammed on the brakes, right after when no cars were joining the main road.
She said she was in a non-fault previous accident a week before, so either she is into making claims, or she was just nervous from previous accident.
Does anyone know how long will she have to make a claim?0 -

I have one last question, my insurer renewal is giving a quote with 3 years ncb, but when i contacted my department, they said i have still 5 years ncb, which ncb should i use? How long does this lady have to make a claim my insurance company refuses to give me timeline, also my insurance company insisted in contacting the other insurer.0 -

3 years for injury and 6 years for property damage.0 -
rs65Yes.

No i didnt give all the details regarding the accident.
I was in a residential area in mk going to work, i stopped at junction to join to main road, in front of me was this lady stopped also, as soon i stop behind the lady, a car in the main road goes past us, and there is no more cars for around +600m distance, the lady starts moving to join main junction moves about 1m, and slams on the brakes straight away, and in the process of her slamming the brakes as i was looking to see if i could join main carriageway not looking at her car i bumped into her, i must have been doing 5mph maybe less.
The lady always said that she didnt have enough distance to join main road, because of the car, but the truth is that i had time to reverse my car and get out, until the next car in main road went past us nearly (nearly 1min went past).
I know i should have paid more attention to her, and i should have given more space. But i am not perfect and i am sure everyone at one point or another makes a mistake. And i am not saying i am not at fault (as i went into her back). However until now i do not understand why she slammed on the brakes.0 -

I was just trying to warn you that you are likely to be 100% at fault for this.0 -
For all you posters that say 100% at fault yes in the eyes of the insurance correct. However it has been mentioned the driver had an accident a week previous so both imoi need looking at. For example is both claims attached with personal injury claims ? Crash for cash ?0
