How to get rid of google+ toolbar on tablet?

I have an android tablet (4.4.2). I recently noticed that the google search toolbar had been replaced by a new blue version with very limited functionality ie does not include the usual options like forward and back arrows/full URL etc.
It seems this is the toolbar for the google+ app which I must have clicked inadvertently. I do not want it, I want the full version but I cannot find any way to get rid of it. I have done a search which said to go to Settings/Apps and uninstall it. But it does not appear as an app there.
Any suggestions?

Typical way to remove something from an Android device screen is press and hold then either drag to a remove icon which is usually at the top of the screen or select remove from an option list that appears.
To add the google search box depending on your exact release and launcher either press and hold a blank bit of screen and then add the correct widget or some you do it from the middle icon at the bottom of your screen.
Sorry this is a bit vague but the exact way to remove and add widgets varies from release to release and also by launcher installed.0 -

Just tried it on my own tablet and it doesn't work there either - it clearly isn't a widget and must be part of the launcher options. I use the Nova launcher and see no way to remove it; just an option regarding behaviour.
I'd just assumed it was a widget and now I'm confused by the OPs issue.
Is this a screen widget/object or something in the browser?0 -
OK I am sitting here looking at the issue now, cannot find how to post an image here, but I did a Google search and selected a result and this what I am seeing on the screen (as a result of a search) is
a thick blue toolbar across the top of the screen showing
X (followed by the title of the search result I selected)
(underneath) the generic title of the site found (not the extended search result I actually chose)
(on the right of the toolbar) the hamburger sign
That's it.
If you can explain how I can post a screen shot I will do so.0 -

The search bar is a fixed part of the OS.
it's a basic search results page. You can't remove it as far as I can remember (Pre-Lollipop you could remove it, but since then it's fixed). But if you click on a link you can then press the menu (three dots or lines ) and select "open in chrome".
I just ignore it and use Chrome (or your favourite browser's) and have the start page as google.comLaters
