HI my 1st post.
I have an assessment for PIP on the 7th June, i have been suffering from depression for a number of years and have recently be diagnosed with Parkinson's.
I am still working as an electrical engineer frequently working on Live terminals, have spoken to my HR manager who has suggested going down the capability route for termination at some point.I feel i can carry on no longer with the stress that i am under.
my questions are:
when do i apply for ESA ???
what should i expect to receive in terms of severance payment if any, as this was not discussed at the HR meeting, she suggested i find out what benefits i might be entitled to and to decide what i wanted to do.
I have been with this company for 15 years and rarely go sick but at 60 years old and with the way i now feel i really would appreciate any advise.

Just been through similar with mother in law. Esa we had to have a clear termination date from the employer before you can start a claim. Ill health employment termination took a few months due to the employers occupational health and nhs gp dragging out reports standard. As for severance pay you need to look at your contract of employment. Pip is non means tested so if you are awarded it won't affect going forward for esa and other benefits. Ask for a copy of you contract of employment that you signed if you can't find yours. Good idea to talk to your gp to see what their view is on ability to work not just in current employment this will help with the future esa claim0

Do you have an occupational pension?
Why are you working at live terminals? Can you have others do this part of the work if there is no option?Don’t be a can’t, be a can.0 -
If you have a medical certificate (now called a Fit Note) from your GP you can claim ESA as long as you aren't in receipt of Statutory Sick Pay, and you will receive any payment due until you have had the medical assessment. The amount of payment is dependant on a number of factors which I won't go into here.
It's only after that point that a decision is made regarding on-going entitlement. To say that having a sick note doesn't mean you will receive ESA is misleading at best.0 -

As Celifien has said the benefits & work site is very useful. Worth the £20 subscription cost.

Have the rules changed? I claimed ESA while I was still employed with no clear termination date- in fact my employment was not terminated until 8 months after claiming. I declared everything- that I was still employed, that I was still being paid and was awarded quite quickly- I was awarded it because of non-terminal cancer, could this be why?
My friends Mum is having this issue, she's been refused ESA but is still employed and friend cannot understand why- maybe this is it.*The RK and FF fan club* #Family*Don’t Be Bitter- Glitter!* #LotsOfLove ‘Darling you’re my blood, you have my heartbeat’ Dad 20.02.200 -
i have a company pension, i work on emergency lighting dual supply central battery units (hence live terminals stored energy) at present no other employee has been sanctioned by the client, i am contracted too,to work on or near live electrical equipment that has dual / multiple supplies.
my faith in the part time HR lady is somewhat less than 100%. However i have requested another meeting with HR where i shall state that i am at risk with my tremors and the anxiety that
this causes so i now wait for her response to my request for a meeting, Tuesday 2nd will be 12 days with no positive response ?0
