Post Office Credit Card - run by idiots?

Options
Just looking at the latest statement for my Post Office money CC. They 'xxx' out most of the account number on the first page - quite why, I have no idea whatsoever! But, on the giro payslip on the next page - you know, the bit you're much more likely to throw away without a second thought - the full account number is on there!

Another: HSBC bank xxx out part of the phone number on the webpage of your account details. Barclaycard xxx out the account number in their online system. !!!!!!??? Why?

For the last two, it's presumably to keep your account details safe if your online banking is compromised. I'm not sure it'll do much though.

The PO one is a little amusing but they can't remove the details from the Giro slip. I suppose in some cases it means there's less information floating around, that being where people actually use the Giro slip.
