Why not just get a Honda Accord for about £7k. Might not be high up, but the seat will adjust for you. Have you considered pedal extensions?
Because the OP wants one and has a plan to keep it for 10years.
When he car is 10 years old it will have 50k or so on it so will still have some residual value.
Must admit I would be tempted to buy a Kia as the Warranty is 7 years meaning longer coverage for those wanting to own for longer periods.
I think the length of the Car Warranties with cars relates to the demographic of the typical owner in some cases.
Hyundai and Toyota give 5, Kia 7. Perhaps that is because they have found that buyers of these cars new tend to keep them longer than the average 3 years or so. A longer Warranty will encourage owners to stay within the Main Dealer Network for Servicing in many cases.
Now look at Jaguar Land Rover, 3 years with unlimited miles. Many Jaguar and Land Rover new vehicle buyers will be wealthy, and therefore more likely to change regularly and possibly use the vehicle for Business miles aswell as private, hence may do more miles, which means the unlimited mileage warranty.
Just a thought.
My experience with a Kia Tech being a bit pedantic over an aftermarket oil filter makes me think Kia encourage dealers to make an issue of owners taking advantage of Block Exemption, which my cars first owner did. I personally think it better to keep a new car within the Dealer Network.
I personally think a Full Subaru History helped me get top money when my Subaru was stolen. And it secondary helped me to get an expensive repair (6/7 months outside the 3 yr Warranty period) eventually paid for in full by Jaguar.0 -

Just check the terms, you will be paying main dealer prices for 7 years of servicing and if they say it needs something doing, you cant disagree or that will be your warranty void.
I can appreciate people wanting a new car, but imo I dont think its worth it for most people due to the depreciation, unless you have loads of money. Furthermore it doesnt make sense to be paying another 6.9% on top if you cant afford it outright. Though thats just my personal opinion, and is relevant given this is money saving expert.
Any used car will have some residual value, The fact you got it new or not is irrelevant.0 -

My Kia has servicing costs of £99 to £139 every 10k miles.
I don't see saving £20 or so as worth it.
What's the point.
An awful lot of people think going outside the Dealer Network means you save a fortune.
Do some research on how much you would pay for a Jag or Land Rover Main Dealer to replace the inlet manifold.
My full Jag History got a 100% contribution eventually from JLR. Car was a Mega mile Chauffeur car 6/7 months outside of Warranty.
Just so you know it's a four figure sum not including pence. The job takes a couple of days minimum.
Very MSE IMHO
I shopped around and saved the thick end of £400 on a cambelt service, still remained within the Dealer Network.
Once out of Warranty all bets are off and I usually do my own Servicing.
I also never let Main Dealer replace Brake pads/discs or tyres.0 -
For some manufacturers/models you may find additional discounts offered if you take out the manufacturer finance, if it's at a higher interest rate than you can get on a loan elsewhere you can simply cancel it after you've taken delivery. I did this with my new Fiesta and just made one Ford finance payment before cancelling as I had a good loan deal from Nationwide.0

I believe you need to settle the finance rather than cancel it.0 -

Yes, but the terminology can be important. Cancelling can lead to any discount or deal being revoked whereas settling should be ok, sounds pedantic but it can be contractually important.
Yes, you're absolutely right, it was sloppy terminology on my part, I did indeed settle the loan.0 -
KIA and Hyundai also offer service packages paid in advance which are very competitively priced, both 3 and 5 years which are transferable to future owners
so the service pricing is not actually much of an issue now, plus keep the service book stamped by a main dealer, then they have less room the wriggle out of warranty issues, especially silly ones like using a non original KIA oil filter, when we all know the ones produced by MANN, purflux etc are equally in quality.0
