Declined for ASDA card :(

Sometimes lenders are looking for a particular set of customer (sometimes those with very good credit could be declined because the lender is looking for those who are more likely to only pay the minimum payment or make late payments for extra revenue).0

We're going over old ground again, but there are many more people stating that full payment is better than voluntarily paying interest.
The problem is we don't know the full situation with many people, either because they hide or don't realise the impact of their financial history.
We're back into things like outrage that I've got a 999 credit rating but can't get a card, the next post then states, well yeah, I've got a dozen defaults, I got made bankrupt three years ago, a couple of ccjs, etc etc
I'm happy for you and others to pay interest, but don't state this as fact to others who might not be aware. I and many others have never paid interest and nev been refused credit.
So are you saying that the OP and several other people in this thread are not being truthful or at least are not providing full information? Or is it that they just don't agree with you or vice versa?
I've recently been refused credit by MBNA in their compulsory eligibility check. But not really surprising because I paid off my MBNA cc with a 0% BT from a competing cc rofl. Maybe they didn't like me doing that. I just like their comparatively new 5 card but I can live without it.0 -

Possibly, your credit and payment history are chequered, it may be that if you have defaulted previously then paying interest may make you more attractive,mu likely but possible.
If you've managed your credit accounts responsibly, without defaults, ccjs, bankruptcy etc then all the responses on this forum I've seen indicate that full payment works well, and paying interest is unnecessary.0 -

Look for example at the TSB Advance low rate card. It does not have a free interest period after the initial promotional offers whereas others offer up to 56 days.. From that do we deduce that they are just too miserly or they expect holders of that card to not need the free interest period because the balance is never cleared and interest is always paid? If the latter do they view credit histories and select customers according to that expectation?0
