JSA Rapid Reclaim

Sorry if this has been answered before (I couldn't find a recent thread). I'm just wondering how long it takes to receive your first payment with a 'Rapid Reclaim'?
I recently finished a temporary job and applied for a 'Rapid Reclaim'. My application was processed on the Monday (16th), and I signed on on the next day and then attended another 'catch up' at the job centre yesterday. I sign on again on Tuesday.
I half expected to see my first payment today but nothing has been paid. I received a letter from DWP yesterday that my claim had been approved and letting me know what I'd be paid weekly (same as my last claim).
Sorry for the length of the post, I just wondered if anyone had any experience of this process and could enlighten on when I will get my first payment.
Thanks.

I will try to answer your question but not an expert on payment dates so hopefully someone will confirm.
There is a 7 day waiting period for JSA when you are not paid. Whether this applies to a rapid reclaim is the bit I am not sure about.
When did your award letter say that payment would be from?
Payments are made on certain days according to your NI number.

New claims can take some time to process but hopefully because this is a rapid reclaim there should be no problem.
Perhaps call and find out?0 -

It just says "we can pay you Jobseeker's Allowance from 16 May 2016". When i claimed previously i was paid every other Friday, which is why i assumed i'd receive my first payment today?0 -
If your claim starts on the 16th, and if there are 7 waiting days (like pmlindyloo I'm not sure if waiting days apply on rapid reclaims) your first potential paydate would be today, as your pay day won't have changed. Which cycle you are in is governed by the last digit of your NI number (odd or even). Unfortunately I don't have access to that calendar any more, but it is possible your first payment isn't due until next Friday. Try calling JSA to check. It is possible it hasn't been released automatically for some reason.0

Thanks for that. I've had a look through my bank statements from my previous claim to see when the first payment came through and there was a full two working weeks between making my claim and payment being received. So working by that logic the first payment this time around should be due next Friday.0 -
There's no waiting days but it takes them a couple of weeks to process the claim; rapid is a relative concept.0

Waiting days do not apply to rapid reclaims - as they are not new claims.
You should have received a payment by now. Please be polite to OPs and remember this is a site for Claimants and Appellants to seek redress against their bank, ex-boss or retailer. If they wanted morality or the view of the IoD or Bank they'd ask them.0
