Why the sudden drop in tax Credits?

Just curious, and as usual can't get through to TC to get a reply but my payments have dropped by about half on the last couple weeks, without notice.

I reported that my 16 year old son will be staying on in education after September but surely that wouldn't trigger a half reduction payment moving forward. No other details have changed.

Can anyone shed any light on this please?
Thanks as usual

Won't be anything to do with your 16yr old but without knowing anything about your claim or income it's impossible to answer why your payments have dropped.

Has your income changed from 2014/15 to 2015/16?

    Have you had your renewal?

Have you registered to use the Manage your Tax Credits site..

It will presumably give you any information that is relevant to your particular claim.
