O/S Daily Friday 27th May 2016

icon1.gifOS daily Friday 27th May
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine

    Good morning everyone :hello:

I hope no one minds if I start us all off this morning :).

It's wet here this morning but i think it will brighten up in a little while. Max certainly hopes so as my hubby is off again today and wants to go for a long walk with him down the Tarka Trail.

The girls are pottering around, DD's 14 and 16 have exams today but they seem ok at the moment. DD14 is excited for her birthday as her sisters have bought her books from the series she is reading and she can't wait to get her nose in them :D.

Hubby took me out to lunch yesterday at wetherspoons and it was very nice. I was a bit scared but I managed to walk all the way through town holding his hand tightly and I even saw my Pastor which was lovely as I haven't managed to get to church for months now and I really miss it.

We are having Bratwurst inna Bun for tea tonight so minimal prep needed. I will just have the sausage with a salad though as my blood sugars are much improved since I watched my carbs.

Hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx

    Morning everyone,

Early start for me today, Rosie dog whined just after 5 needing to go outside and as it was such a lovely morning decided to take them both out for a walk before their breakfast. The crop is growing high in the field and little Tilly has to jump to see over it, very comical she looks with her ears flapping in the breeze :)

Had a lovely day yesterday, went into BuryStEd for lunch and a wander. Tried a pub that we had seen recommended on TA and boy was the food tasty, I had roasted pork belly in a apple and cider sauce. It did come with pots but by the time I had eaten all the meat and veg didn't have room so pushed them to one side, that wouldn't have happened a few weeks ago. Came home and sat in the garden reading, it wa really quite warm.

Today will need to get some food shopping and buzz through the house as have Mum coming to stay for the long w/e, have already changed the beds and done the bathrooms so just really a good hoover and dust. Will get over to see Bill later and take him for a walk in hand down the lane, change of scenery will do him good.

Dumpling lovely to read you are out and about.

Have a good day everyone, take care folks x

    Morning everyone.

What a lovely post dumpling, it's so great to read about your progress. Walking about town indeed! :j

After doctors and dentists yesterday I got away from Glasgow about 4'ish and enjoyed the drive home. Only encountered two or three slow vehicles and no lorries at all. The evening was dull but warm and still so I could open both front and back doors. When I phoned Mum she reported heavy rain there.

Today I'll tackle the lawn mower again and get some washing out - if the weather stays dry. I've got a couple of presents to post so that'll mean a trip into town.

I took a painting to a CS in Glasgow, it was in an unused cupboard here and left behind by the previous resident. It's an original watercolour by a modern and unknown artist. Unfortunately two more books leapt off the shelves into my hand. I'm being stalked by books. :rotfl:

Right, I may have to shift myself. Happy Friday everyone.

Morning all and thank you dumpling for starting the thread - also well done for yesterday.

The sun is out and so is my first lot of washing, second load about to finish.

Got up early as was having nightmares but fortunately I can't remember what they were, just a feeling of dread and confusion, so they must have been about muddles in my daily life.

Today I need to do some work, clean upstairs and make dinner. I've lots of new potatoes left from last night, cooked too many so will be incorporating them into whatever the meal turns out to be.

I have been thinking of getting hair cut but it can take me a long time to nerve myself up for the horrid ordeal, for some reason they are keen on me sitting still. No wiggling about. So my hair tends to get left until I really can't manage to get it dry in a reasonable time.

    Hope Evie is ok
I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back

    Morning All

Overcast here today after some rain last night. Washing was dry yesterday so all is good with the world! Will put a load out today as it should brighten up later.

Long weekend here, off today and Monday, that's our half term. School had quite an up-beat feel to it yesterday with everyone looking forward to a few days off.

Off to paint DDs bathrooms again today, she will be at work so I wont have any distractions.

Well done dumpling, you are becoming quite the gad-about!
tru - my plate spends most of its time in a dish of water too!

    Take care. XX

    Morning all,

Having a 'doing day' today, strip beds etc steam clean floors and bottom out the bathrooms etc

Nothing planned for dinner, as Friday night is Date Night, and DH sorts dinner.

I am utterly fed up with work, the internal politics is driving me mad - I have a fantastic work life balance, and good pay for our area, but I dread going in. I,ve worked there for 14 years, and feel it may be time to move on, I feel like the odd one out in the office, being the only part timer, and I think my FT colleagues resent that, or that's how it feels...

    Sorry for the winge..

    Enjoy your Friday all X

    Happy Friday!!

    Hope everyone is well.

I stayed at my GF's last night and she left at around 3am to go on a hen do to Marbella. I've now arrived at work and realised I've left my phone in her house and I've no keys! DOH!!!! Well, it'll be a lesson to show I don't need technology, however I must admit I'm not one who's 'addicted' to their phone.

Dumpling - I'm glad you enjoyed your lunch and well done. Go you!!
Islandmaid - I understand your feelings with the internal politics. Take your time to consider all options and maybe a new chapter is just what's needed.

Have a super day everyone :)

  • Morning ((((((((((hugs)))))))))) if you need one. Still have a snotty nose and the cough is something else, guess that it will take time to recover completely.

Lovely sunny morning. OH has an appointment to clean the club house, so whilst he is out, I have an appointment with the dyson and dusters here. I have not done the usual clean since before this cold hit me for 6. Thankfully it's not too bad, but could do with a spruce up, it's the carpet really that's looking 'bitty '. I will leave the kitchen till tomorrow so OH can help me move stuff, I want to steam clean the floor again.

The class yesterday went quite well apart from me cutting a block the wrong way......idiot, never mind, it just shows I am as fallible as the rest of them.

Time to get up and face the day, slept through OH getting up, so got my breakfast in bed.
