Do not trust or rely on the comparison sites . We have found the "savings" are based on really low DD which leave you with a debt.
In addition to Hengus's comments, which are all perfectly true, the "savings" are well known to be artificially high because they if you are on any tariff except the supplier's standard (and most expensive) one, it assumes you will go onto that when your current tariff ends. One major reason for people looking at comparison sites is because their current tariff is coming to an end.
Therefore, it is not quoting a saving against what you have already paid, but a saving against what you are likely to pay if you do nothing and allow yourself to be put onto the standard tariff.
So long as you use actual annual kWh usage and definitely not what you are currently paying, you will get fairly accurate predicted future costs. Ignore the supposed savings.

sainsburys is showing it would save us £330 a year.

Our first switch (sort of) too, but we're showing that Sainsburys will save us £1300 per year!

I say "sort of" as we were able to switch long before most of the public as we use quite a lot of energy. I've been working on it, but it's a big old house!
I am not a financial adviser and neither do I play one on television. I might occasionally give bad advice but at least it's free.

Like all religions, the Faith of the Invisible Pink Unicorns is based upon both logic and faith. We have faith that they are pink; we logically know that they are invisible because we can't see them.
