How long does it take to get a credit card?

in Credit cards
Never had one before, but have been considering the benefits for a while. We're due to go on a last minute trip to Ireland next week and tried renting a car. It seems they all require a credit rather than debit card. So is there any chance at all of being able to get hold of a credit card by Wednesday??
Thanks
Thanks

I very much doubt it. Your best bet would be your own bank, but I still think it's not going to happen in time.0

Thanks for that. Went to our on-line current account bank and it seems it will involve posting things to sign, so not quick enough. I tried phoning our mortgage lender this afternoon and they said quickest way to get one was to go into their branch, so must decide whether to bother doing that in the morning, and it probably would take all morning.0

Once all the forms are signed and sent etc the average is about three weeks.0
