What sort of problems are you having? The only one I had after the latest update was that it decided to open the new message window with Paragraph rather than Body Text, but just changing it has resolved that.

All the folders disappeared then re appeared then there were lots of 'cannot connect' etc error messages.
It then started to download all the sent/deleted etc messages several times.
Never seen such a going on...........
    All very odd
It also keeps downloading the deleted items again & again
    On Version 45.1.0
    Now I have got this............
You’ve just started using a new nightly version of Thunderbird, code-named "Daily", that has a different version number from what you previously have been using. It could be that you’ve just downloaded, or compiled a build, or that the version number has just been updated for a pending release.

As long an Help About says release channel it should be ok.

Could there be a problem with an addon that's throwing things haywire?

Which mail provider were you using, outlooklive (formerly hotmail) ?

IMAP for outlook.live.com went t1t5-up yesterday, I would suspect that it's your email service provider with issues and nothing to do with T-Bird. I have six different email providers going into Thunderbird and only outlooklive was not working. A few months ago MS broke IMAP access to O365 for an entire week due to an incompetent server side SW update.
Science isn't exact, it's only confidence within limits.

I thought that was just my setup that had changed and it was driving me mad.
Just found out how to change it back to body text.

    Many thanks.

I know, it was quite annoying until I worked out how to get back to what I wanted - to be honest, I wasn't sure whether it was the update or something that I'd done, so I'm quite relieved to see that it happened to someone else, even if it did cause you some grief too :D.
