Cancelled motor insurance but they kept personal accident cover going!

We've just received a letter from RAC Insurance telling us that we took out car insurance in 2012 along with Personal Accident Cover. We cancelled the car insurance a year later when we got a better quote but apparently they kept the Personal Accident Cover going.
It's only £4 a month so not a huge amount but we had no idea. We assumed when we phoned to cancel, they cancelled it all. We didn't know the Personal Accident Cover was being run as a separate policy and that we had to cancel it separately. This letter says it was an optional product added on to enhance our car insurance polity but it wasn't added to it, it was a separate thing. :mad:
