With regard to the OP's question; open a tsb classic account, then get all the snail mail paperwork out of the way. Once that is done you can open as many Classic accounts as you like online. Once these are opened, upgrade them to Classic Plus accounts and put 2 grand in each. Drip feed , by standing order from your Santander (or whatever) account to your first TSB Classic Plus account, then your second, then third then 4th etc. If you are really smart, open an empty Classic Plus account (still drip the 500 per month) and skim all the others' interest into it monthly. Then your not only getting five percent on your capital but compound interest as well. And don't forget to go paperless on them all, otherwise no interest

Alternatively, read the basic outline of a TSB Classic Plus here (not even the need to locate T&Cs) http://www.tsb.co.uk/current-accounts/classic-plus-account/

That will save you the bother of opening a bunch of TSB Classic accounts & discovering you are only allowed (as someone else has already pointed out earlier) ONE sole a/c & ONE joint TSB Plus a/c. You won't be converting "all the classic accounts you like" into Plus accounts.
Seen it all, done it all, can't remember most of it.

Really appreciate all this helpful advice, which has given me the confidence to go on and do it (i.e. set up TSB Classic Plus ... one of them at least)!

Well, when I've got time (I'm supposed to be 'at work' at the moment! )

Brace yourself jjlothin - that was how I started following guidance on the forum...........tentatively.

But you'll get a bit 'hooked', I started with only one, but I've just thinned my assorted bank accounts down from 18 to 16! :rotfl:

do not follow this advice. It is wrong. You can have a maximum of two classic plus accounts (of which one must be joint).

I am upto 6 current accounts now, but have restricted myself to accounts that I can open on line, as the thought of actually going into a bank to talk to these people fills me with dread. It's bad enough having to talk to them on the phone. £76 profit made in the first month. Organise yourself with revolving standing orders at the beginning of the month and let your money work for. With most banks doing faster payments these days, it's very easy.

    Perhaps they do, who knows?

However, you'll find that whatever bank you use, they can block the account at whim, so you may as well stay with the one offering the greatest benefit - and make sure you have at least two accounts with unconnected banks in case one gets blocked.

I have never had a bank retain a card for no reason or without contacting me to say there is an issue. NEVER!

I called TSB to replace my retained debit card. I passed the auto security, I passed the rep security, I clearly stated the service I required. The rep looked at the notes on my account. She then asked me when the card was retained. I asked her why that question was relevant. We went round in circles, she would not answer the question. I still don't know why it's relevant. I told her how it was retained, I told where it was retained, I told her why it was retained, although I didn't know why my account was blocked in the first place for the card to be retained. She didn't know either.

Judging by your post of May 26, you have now.

She then asked me when the card was retained. I asked her why that question was relevant.
I understand you are upset but it doesn't help with the resolution of the issue if you don't answer simple questions with simple answers.
