  • If reading meters is too difficult for some reason then I guess it's good....but I would be looking for the cheapest tariff from all providers, there's only a small % chance that e.on are the cheapest for you.

Found i can save £200 by switching

    Thanks for highlighting this!
  • HI Malc, why are eon taking charges of over £46 from my prepaid credit? I have had 2 lots of charges now since October? So all of my credit to last over winter you have taken.. not happy at all, I don't have any debt so how can you justify taking these charges from people who are poor???

No "small chance " at all.
I have just switched to Eons dual fuel latest tariff and they were roughly equal to the cheapest available on MSE Cheapenergyclub if I take into account £25 cashback and various online only paperless billing discounts they come out around the same as the "here today , gone tomorrow " little suppliers , such as Iresa, Bulb etc operating out of an industrial unit in the back of beyond.
Eon are reliable, I can contact them at any time QUICKLY ( try getting hold of Iresa ) and have a great online website and that is worth more to me than the few quid a year savings with the new cheapjack suppliers who never send out a meter reader ever and at the same time break the rules set by OFGEM in regard to yearly meter inspections.
This is the reason why they operate cut rate outfits.
Great news about smart prepayment meters. They have been very late in being introduced but I think it will change the face of prepay meters.
They are so cheap and efficient to run that eventually I hope that people who select smart prepay options will be able to access the cheapest tariffs of the lot...and why not ? they pay their money up front, now there is no middleman taking a cut at Paypoints and no out of date old prepay meters constantly breaking down or being easily bypassed for free energy

Please stop trotting out the line about a few quid of savings - the BEST EON duel fuel tariff would cost me £200 pa more than my current fixes with IRESA and Better Energy - and the gas fix is longer than EON'S:)

Just shows you how prices and area/usage all differs. I m not "trotting "anything out at all. Please stop saying that if you don t mind
.Eons yearly usage for me was around £675 for the year, less the £25 cashback and online dual fuel paperless discounts it brought it down to a few quid of the cheapskates suppliers who IMO do not comply with OFGEMS rules.I don t think they have even started paying out for smart meter install yet.No wonder they offer cheapo deals.
Just watch these newbies disappear. Lousy feedback on MSE as well for Iresa

    Hi LadyJL,

Welcome to the forums sorry for the late reply, we’re trying our best to help as much as we can whilst Malc is off.

I just have a few questions for you to try and help me understand a bit more. Do you have a Smart pay as you go meter?

When you say “charges” are these separate to your usage we bill you for? If you flick through the settings on the meter, can you get any more information about where this amount is coming from? For example standing charges etc

Have you checked your meter readings against your statements? Do these match, sometimes estimates can be used.

If you do have Smart pay as you go meter, it might be best to give our specialist team a call. They’re the ones best placed to deal with the issues for specific meters. So please get in contact and we’ll be able to help you with much more specific information.

    Thanks

    Amy
